A doula is a non-medical birth worker who can provide educational and emotional support in the time before, during, and after a big life change, most often pregnancy.
As a doula, my goal is to guide you to feel as prepared as possible and then hold space for you to have an experience that feels genuine to your desires, despite the often unpredictable nature of birth. A doula’s support is not only for those wanting a natural or home birth and can be especially helpful in hospital settings.
I meet with you and your chosen team/partner to help you prepare for the birth that you want, by getting to know you and your desires, posing questions for you to think on, providing resources that you may need, and suggesting exercises and comfort measures that you can practice.
As your birth doula, I am the first person you call when you think you may be in labor and I am there for you until hours after the birth. I work together with the rest of your birthing team and medical professionals to make sure you understand everything, feel heard, and that your needs are met.
As a postpartum doula, I can help you and your team prepare for life after birth and be there for full support in the several weeks afterwards. We can talk about what your specific needs are and create a plan catered to you.
